Visie

KMKJ-Nederland staat voor gelijkwaardigheid tussen mensen.
Zij wil gemeenschappen ondersteunen in hun ontwikkeling, zodanig dat elk individu de ruimte en vrijheid krijgt om zichzelf te ontwikkelen. KMKJ-NL heeft ervoor gekozen om zich bij de ondersteuning specifiek op vrouwen te richten, omdat zij van mening is dat wanneer vrouwen ondersteund worden indirect de hele gemeenschap daarvan profiteert.

Doelstellingen

1. Plattelandsgemeenschappen in Tanzania ondersteunen door middel van samenwerking met vrouwen uit die gemeenschappen.
2. De Nederlandse samenleving bewust maken van andere culturen en van de eigen rol in Internationale Samenwerking

Hoe?

In Tanzania
Kali Mata is de naam van een vrouwencentrum in het dorp Gezaulole, 15 Km ten Zuiden van Dar Es Salaam. Het centrum is met 3 vrouwen begonnen. Het is geopend in 1990, en is in het bezit van 1 gebouw. Het centrum is geheel zelstandig en krijgt geen overheidssubsidies.

Activiteiten in en om het centrum in de loop van de tijd

  • training op het gebied van kleine kredieten, boekhouding, gezondheid, Aids, management
  • kleinschalig cultureel toerisme
  • fietslessen aan meisjes en vrouwen
  • verven van katoen: tie-and-dye techniek
  • naaien van lakens, beddek overtrekken, tafelkleden
  • weven van matten en manden
  • productie van henna en kapok
  • potten bakken

De groep vrouwen heeft een voorzitter, secretaris en penningmeester. Dit vrouwencentrum wordt ondersteund in zijn bestuur door een Supportgroep in Dar Es Salaam.


In Nederland

Intercultureel onderwijs voor basis onderwijs, middelbare scholen en kennisinstituten. In de vorm van:
Afrikaanse workshops, Simulatiespel Hakuna Matatizo ( een Noord-Zuid Dialoog over cultureel Toerisme). Stimuleren van stages in Gezaulole voor studenten uit het hoger onderwijs.

Vision

KMKJ-Nederland stands for equality among people. It aims at supporting communities in their development, in such a way that each individual gets the space and freedom to develop themselves. KMKJ-NL has chosen to direct its attention especially to the support of women, because they are of the opinion that when women are supported the whole community will indirectly benefit from it.

Objectives

1. Supporting rural communities in Tanzania by means of cooperation with women belonging to these communities.
2. Making Dutch society aware of other cultures and of its own role in International Cooperation.

How?

In Tanzania
Kali Mata is the name of a women's centre in the village of Gezaulole, 15 Km south of Dar Es Salaam. The centre started with 3 women. It was opened in 1990, and now owns it owns one building. The centre is completely independent and does not get any government grants.

Activities in and around the centre developed in the course of time

  • training regarding micro credits, bookkeeping, health, Aids, management
  • small-scale cultural tourism
  • cycling lessons to girls and women
  • dyeing cotton: tie-and-dye techniques
  • sewing sheets, bedding covers, tablecloths
  • weaving mats and baskets
  • the production of henna and kapok
  • making pottery

The group has a chairwoman, a secretary and a treasurer. They are supported by a Supportgroup in Dar Es Salaam.

In the Netherlands
Intercultural education for primary schools, secondary schools and educational centres. In the form of:
African workshops, role-playing games such as Hakuna Matatizo ( a North-South Dialogue on cultural Tourism). Stimulating field studies for students at university level.
